Fahad's P.O.V:
I took the keys and got of the house as fast as I can. I know Mariam's going to be very angry because I'm already 15 minutes late.
I started the car and turned on the radio and went to Starbucks to meet Mariam. Once I got there, I saw Mariam sitting in the corner with her arms crossed.
I went to her and sat in the seat opposite to hers.
"Am I in trouble?" I asked.
"Yes you are mister," she replied.
"How can I make it up to you?" I asked.
"Well let me tell you first what I wanted to talk to you about and then we could decide on how you can make it up to me,"
"Talk," I said. I knew that Mariam wanted me in an important conversation because she's never this serious.
"Fahad, what you're doing to Sara isn't normal. I don't think anyone has ever done these things to their wives.Well, there are actually but that's not the point. Fahad, Sara doesn't deserve anything you're doing to her, she doesn't deserve being imprisoned in her own house," she said.
"Well I think she deserves it," I replied, coldly.
"Every time I talk to you about Sara you turn into this cold person who's getting on my last nerves" she said.
"I dont really care about what you think," I replied and got up. Mariam quickly grabbed my hand.
"Listen to me carefully Fahad, if you don't do anything about Sara, trust me, you will regret the day you decided to lock her up," she said and let go. "and Fahad, don't forget that you owe me one"
I went straight to my car and went to the hospital. I had a friend there, who is also a doctor. I asked him if he could prescribe me some insulin shots for Sara.
I took the prescription from him and went straight to the pharmacy downstairs. I gave the pharmacist the prescription and waited. I had a major headache and I wasn't in the mood for anyone.
"I'm sorry Doctor Fahad, we ran out of insulin and we're getting more by tomorrow morning. Do you want me to save some for you?" he asked.
"No it's okay, I'l go get them from another pharmacy. Can I have the prescription back?"
"Yes Doctor, of course," handing it to me.
I took the paper and went to the car park. I got into my car and rested my head on the head rest. I closed my eyes for a second so I could relax. I searched for pain killers but I couldn't find one. Instead, I found Sara's mix tape when she was in Paris studying. I remembered her telling me that a friend of hers that lives in Paris shipped some of her things that she forgot there, and the mix tape was one of them.
I inserted the CD into the slot and music started playing. Sara's choice in music was amazing. She listens to music I've never heard of but are quite interesting. It eased me a bit while I searched for another pharmacy to get her insulin.
I finally entered a decent pharmacy that had the insulin shots. I paid for the medications and got out. I looked at the time and it was half past twelve. I decided to go eat lunch at my parent's house instead of eating out.
I went to my parents house and entered from the back door. I found my parents sitting on the couch. My mom was reading the newspaper and my father watching the news.
"Hala hala ib wlaidy il'3ali shlounik sha5barek walhaneen 3alaaaik," my mom said.
"Hala yuma," I said and kissed the crown of her head. I went to my father and kissed the crown of his head, too.
"Wlaidi laish ma yebt murtik ma3aak? Walahna 3alaiha ya Fahad!" My father said.
"Ee yuba inshalla il marra il yayah ayeeb'ha bas t3arefha wayed mash'3oula" I lied, for the millionth time. My father is the only one in my family who doesn't know about what I've done to Sara.
My mother had a disgusted look on her face. Well, she was right about Sara. She warned me about how marrying her will be one of the decisions I'd regret later in life. I already regret marrying her. I wanted to live like an actual married couple, but unfortunately I couldn't.
We sat there in silence until Dalal came down with her three-week old baby.
"Ahlaaaan um Fahad shlounich?" I asked while I raised my eyebrows up and down. Dalal was smiling the whole time.
"Fahoodo samaita Khalid mu Fahaaaad," she said.
"Ee adree bas tara yamdi trou7een wet'3ayreen esma," I said. "itha tabeena ye6la3 mazyoun 3ala khala 3ayal lazem tsameena Fahad!"
"Inshalla wildi ilthany basamee Fahad, estanast??" she laughed.
"mu bas mistanes, mkaayef" I replied.
"Haak tabi tsheela?" she asked.
"La akhaf shoufay shkubra" I said. My parents got up and went to their room to take a short nap before lunch.
Dalal sat next to me and handed me baby Khalid. He was so tiny.
"How old is he again?" I asked.
"Three weeks old," she replied. "I can finally go back to my house tomorrow"
"Allah e5aleeh lich" I said. "9aber 9aber, raylich intay mu msafer ma3a rayel Mariam on a business trip? Laish betredeen baitich bala? Tabeen teg3edeen brou7ich ma3a yahel?"
"ameen" she replied. "La 3adi I can manage everything"
"okay inshouf mino ily berid bait ubouy ilyoum ilthani" I chuckled.
"Fahad, can I ask you something?"
"si2lay," I said.
"How's Sara?" she asked. Dalal loved Sara from the beginning, unlike my mother.
"zaina" I said.
"3adi ayeelukum bacher? walaht 3ala Sara 9arli sena ma sheft'ha! I think she doesn't even know I gave birth to a baby boy" she said.
"La mu 3adi teyeena, she deserves this Dalal. Tadreen inna she took pills while she was pregnant 9a7? Tadreen ina kan mafrouth ekoun 3indi walad aw bint al7een? Ta5ayelay law intay 5athaitay ilpills awal ma 7amaltay ib Khalid, shbe9eer feech?" I replied.
"Fahad, Sara never took the pills! She swore to me that she never took them. Galat inna 5adamatna hnii 7a6at il pills in the drawer when you first moved into to your house"
"Entay bas tg3edeen ou t9adgeen kalamha? Il bint chathaba, t3arfeen shino ya3ni chathaba? 5ala9 lat9adgeenha! Laish mu rathya tesme3een kalami ou kalam omi?" I asked.
"La2ana thnainatkum '3al6aneen. Il bint baree2a ou wala 3umurha sawat shay '3ala6 ou I know you know that," she said. "Ou a9lan umi hated her from when she was a child. Lat khali umi tel3ab ib mu5ik Fahad, tara hathi murtek mu ay mara thanya!"
I stayed quiet while I saw baby Khalid playing with his hands. He was so tiny and his hands are so chubby.
"I'm coming tomorrow whether you like it or not," she said and took Baby Khalid from my arms since he was crying.
I laid down on the couch and closed my eyes, waiting for my parents to wake up so we could have lunch.
